Description
MEINL Byzance Foundry Reserve Hihat 16" is a large hi-hat made from B20 bronze, with a dark, complex character and short, controlled sustain. The combination of a thin top cymbal and a slightly heavier Medium Thin bottom provides a soft response and good control across a wide dynamic range.
The cymbals are hand-hammered and traditionally finished. Wide Blade lathing contributes to the complex sound structure and rich overtone content. The overall sound remains dark and full, with a low to mid tonal range.
The 16" diameter provides a broad sound and a soft feel under the stick. The hi-hat responds well to changes in dynamics and to different degrees of opening – when closed, it maintains a tight, controlled character, while opening the cymbals produces a broader and more developed sound. It also responds well to foot playing.
This model is particularly well suited to situations where a dark, complex, and not overly aggressive hi-hat sound is required. It can be used for studio recording and live performance, especially in jazz, fusion, funk, and R&B.
