ROLAND TD516 V-Drums Kit – electronic drum kit with V51 module

Roland TD516 electronic drum kit belongs to the V-Drums 5 series. The configuration is based on the V51 sound module, digital snare, digital hi-hat, digital ride, and tom and cymbal pads mounted on a rack.

The V51 module offers a sound library created in cooperation with Drum Workshop, editing tools, and support for digital pads. It allows adjustment of tuning, muffling, head type, effects, and sound parameters of individual kit elements. This makes it possible to adapt the kit response and sound for practice, recording, computer work, and live playing.

The kit uses a digital snare, digital hi-hat, and digital ride, which read articulation, strike position, and playing technique more accurately. The snare supports positional sensing and cross-stick, the hi-hat provides precise open and closed position detection, and the ride offers edge, bow, and bell playing zones plus hand-choke function.

The toms have mesh heads and a construction with chrome hoops. They provide quieter operation than classic rubber pads and a more natural stick rebound. The KD-12 kick pad has a reinforced construction and a 7.5" playing surface, allowing comfortable work on foot technique.

The module supports Bluetooth audio, recording and playback via SD card, USB-C audio/MIDI connection, and import of custom samples. The kit also works with Roland apps and services, including Roland Cloud Connect, V-Drums Play, and V51 Software Companion Editor.
