Description
Tama Starclassic Walnut/Birch is the latest version of one of Tama’s most respected professional drum kit series. After years of experience with maple, birch, bubinga, and birch/bubinga hybrid shell constructions, Tama developed a new sound formula that combines the warmth of American Black Walnut with the precision and projection of birch. The key to the distinctive character of the Starclassic Walnut/Birch series is the carefully selected wood ply ratio. Two inner plies of American Black Walnut provide rich, warm low and midrange tones, while the outer birch construction adds clear attack, definition, and excellent sound projection. The result is a sound familiar to Tama fans, yet fresh and distinct compared to earlier models.
The bass drum shell is made from 5 plies of birch, 8 mm thick, and 2 inner plies of American Black Walnut, providing a strong low end, fast attack, and long, controlled sustain. It is a versatile construction that works very well both on stage and in a professional recording studio.
The bass drum is equipped with factory EVANS® Genera EQ4 Clear heads, which provide focused bass, controlled resonance, and wide dynamics.
