STM - Suspension Tom Mount System
DW's patented STM (Suspension Tom Mount) system allows drums to vibrate freely, providing maximum resonance while maintaining drum stability. Choking of the drum's resonance is minimized, and tuning is greatly simplified. This system features no washers, bushings, or other elements that could inhibit the drum's resonance.
True-Pitch Tension Rod System
To give drummers more control over their sound, DW created the "True-Pitch" tension rod system. The rods feature 5mm threads instead of the 12/24 standard used on other drums. For comparison, in the True-Pitch system, there is one thread every 0.8 mm (about 20% more threads), while on other drums, there is one thread every 1.05 mm. The result is a more exacting tuning process.
Snare "Throw-off"
Eco-X series snare drums are equipped with the chrome MAG throw-off system. The intentionally simple design of the MAG system is very fast and easy to use. It owes this to its horizontal tension adjustment and smooth, easily adjustable mechanism. The system gets its name from a magnet integrated into the throw-off. When the throw-off handle is in the closed position, it won't release without a slight tug. When you want to release the snare tension, pull gently on the handle and the snares will quickly drop away from the drumhead, avoiding any sympathetic buzz.
