  • Sectional backing tracks (bass + harmony) – to more comfortably practice the grooves included in the book
  • GrooveTrener TRAINING APP to facilitate practice – examples from the book saved as a "sequencer" illustrated with notes (the app displays the sheet music and plays the audio, additionally highlighting the measure with a cursor, allowing you to freely change the tempo of the exercise).

ADD-ONS EXPANDING THE NUMBER OF EXERCISES

  • Time signature change templates to cut out yourself!
  • Time signature templates – templates available in the manual to cut out yourself allow you to change the time signature of an exercise to get thousands more examples from the basic 2400 exercises in the manual
  • Thanks to the templates, from a total of 2400 exercises (additional 5/8, 6/8, 7/8 time signatures), you get as many as 7200 exercises!!!
  • Specific knowledge and practical "technology" for building a groove – you work on a simple, repeatable, but incredibly effective scheme.
  • Spiral-bound manual – ensures convenient use on a music stand.

WHY PRACTICE GROOVE?
Let's be blunt – you can practice what you like, but WE GET PAID FOR A GOOD GROOVE! Musicians want to play with us because we have a good GROOVE!

  • Knowing is not the same as doing! Groove Book is a practical groove primer, i.e., multimedia material allowing you to develop the necessary technique and maintain instrumental proficiency regarding the most practical skill of a drummer, which is creating a good and stable groove.
  • Simplifying and increasing the degree of lesson difficulty – the school contains two special chapters describing ways to simplify every, even very complicated, exercise and possibilities for developing (diversifying) the described exercises.

Lesson Content Outline:

  • Rhythmic pattern forming the basis of the groove
  • Snare exercise with accents
  • Snare exercise with accents and subdivisions of unaccented notes
  • Groove basis: bass drum pedal + snare
  • Groove in various hi-hat variants
  • Groove + ghosts
  • Groove + ghosts in various hi-hat variants
  • Linear patterns (bass drum pedal, snare, hi-hat) + drum fill / chops variant (bass drum pedal, snare, hi-hat, toms, pulse subdivisions)
  • Polyrhythmic patterns (based on ghosts and base patterns)
  • Polyrhythmic snare exercises

Practice the basics and develop more advanced licks, starting with the snare and then the entire drum set.

INVEST IN YOUR SKILLS – for the price of 1 private lesson with a professional drummer educator, you receive 120 extensive lessons + much, much more.

Comfortable learning at home and a clear lesson structure will allow you to develop drum set technique, improve proficiency in playing patterns, and facilitate "musical" development, allowing you to play the music you like, play with other musicians, and enjoy what is most pleasant in drumming – a strong, stable, and sensory-stimulating groove!

  • The most advanced school for building groove and working in a rhythm section.
  • Snare exercises providing the foundation + various pattern combinations (bass drum pedal, snare, hi-hat, ghosts, toms).
  • Training material for years: 120 lessons, over 2500 exercises, templates for playing in odd time signatures.
  • Multimedia manual: sheet music illustrations and MP3s of exercises, sectional backing tracks, convenient training app.
  • Practical "ready-made" useful rhythms and an effective recipe for creating your own groove.
  • Groove basics and more modern styles: linear patterns, polyrhythms, "chops".

Structure of the school and difficulty level of exercises

You have 120 "high-calorie" groove lessons before you. Practice the examples contained within them, which are not only very universal drum patterns but will also teach you the appropriate technology, i.e., the "recipe" for creating your own groove and developing your playing style, technical freedom, and groove improvisation skills.

You can treat this school on multiple levels. If you are looking for basics, want inspiration, or are at the beginning of your drumming journey, focus on simpler examples (Groove Basics, snare exercises developing technique and "hand positioning"). More experienced and demanding drummers will find many more complex groups of exercises in each lesson (hi-hat combinations, ghosts and hi-hat). Searchers for unique attractions and impressive licks will surely enjoy the linear and polyrhythmic patterns.

The lessons were created according to increasing difficulty levels. We start with eighth-note grooves (Lessons 1-40), i.e., those where the bass drum pedal and snare work in eighth notes; the next set of lessons are sixteenth-note patterns, containing the bass drum pedal and snare shifted by a sixteenth note relative to the quarter note (Lessons 41-80). The last group of patterns consists of triplet grooves, whose difficulty increases with the lesson numbering (91-120).

To better illustrate improvisational possibilities, each rhythmic pattern forming the basis of a groove makes up two separate lessons (opened as the left and right sides of the manual), based on different placements of the bass drum pedal and snare in the groove, but the same rhythmic pattern. Thanks to this, you can interweave exercises from both lessons and combine them in any way (also practicing to the same sectional backing track for both lessons).

How to practice to achieve results?

Firstly, the exercises in this school are meant to provide you with skills, i.e., to develop the ability to "groove" as we drummers say, and thus building rhythmic figures that drive a musical band (the so-called groove). The exercises are also intended to better ground you rhythmically, build the necessary technique and independence to play patterns in a rhythm section and do it effectively and freely (improvising based on the groove foundation).

Secondly, the exercises are an inspiration – you get a total of thousands of ready-to-use exercises – grooves! Various variants of the bass drum pedal and snare in a measure + additions in the form of ghosts, denser or sparser cymbal work – this is a base from which it is worth drawing and returning to, because the rhythms themselves are not accidental. I have tried hard to choose the most interesting ones! And finally, thirdly – this school is a tool intended to be maximally effective, not maximally pleasant! This means that certain exercises will come easily to you without much problem, while others may keep you up at night, but remember – that's why you practice what is difficult and uncomfortable, to take a step forward, not to constantly spin in one place!
