Description

Hokema Sansula Basic Melody G major – 11 tones

Hokema Kalimbas is a German family company producing primarily high-class kalimbas and other ethnic percussion instruments. They are manufactured in Lower Saxony using high-grade materials, including cherry wood polished with linseed oil. The company prides itself not only on the high quality of its products but also on the fact that the energy required for their production is sourced from photovoltaic modules installed on the roof of the factory.

Sansula is a unique instrument introduced to the market by Hokema in 2001. It is a combination of a kalimba and an oval "drum" with a frame made of laminated beech wood and a resonant drumhead, which further amplifies the sounds produced by the tines and the American cherry wood block. The Sansula series kalimbas have been very warmly received by the music community and were quickly patented. These instruments are characterized by a soft and long sustain, and additionally allow for a wah-wah effect by opening and closing the bottom of the frame.

Sansula Basic Melody is the equivalent of the B11 Melody model with a solid American cherry wood resonance block. Its surfaces are polished using plant-based waxes and oils. The instrument features 11 tines tuned to the key of G major, allowing for the performance of many well-known pieces. The tines are ergonomically shaped, making it easy to play them with your fingers. This model is perfect for musical improvisation, solo play, or chordal accompaniment.

Since the membrane of Sansula instruments is delicate, they are not suitable for small children, for whom a standard kalimba would be a better choice.
