Description
Earth Gong is an unlathed gong. After being removed from the kiln, it was only cleaned.
In the world of gongs, it is good to remember that the smaller the gong, the clearer the tone. The more raw the finish, the slower the gong is to respond. The Earth Gong, with its unpolished outer surface, maintains a deeper tone. It does not wash out like a Wind Gong or even a Chao Gong.
Its sound is very complex, dry, and raw, without a distinct fundamental tone. Furthermore, Earth Gongs are great for engraving due to the high contrast created between the engraved image and the raw surface of the gong.
Included is a gong mallet in a dedicated size.
