Description

The Mandala Gong is a combination of Chao and Wind gongs, producing a long-sustaining, full, and rich sound. Its beauty and traditional appearance make it a successful centerpiece for any space, both indoors and outdoors. The Mandala gong differs from the Wind gong in that its outer edge features an engraved pattern on a raw surface typical of the Chao gong, while its center part is lathed rather than raw like the Chao. It is made from a bronze alloy consisting of approximately 80% copper and 20% tin, and the artisanal process is a blend of hand hammering and lathing while carefully heating and cooling the metal. The outer part of the gong retains the black copper oxide that forms during creation. On the rest of the gong, this coating is removed, and the surface is polished. Mandala gongs are available in various sizes, with each size possessing its own distinct, full sound. Smaller sizes have a rich but higher-pitched sound, while larger sizes are deeper, sustain longer, and resonate with more power.
