Description

The Wind Gong is a beautifully sounding instrument, producing an incredible wave of overtones. The Wind Gong quickly becomes a point of interest in any indoor or outdoor space, and its sound is immersive and calming. The sound of wind gongs has rich roots in meditation and ceremony. A Wind Gong is essentially a large and very flat bell. When played with a mallet, it produces a complex wave of musical tones. When struck with a drumstick, they sound more like the chimes of a large clock. Our wind gongs are made using traditional methods by craftsmen in China from a bronze alloy consisting of approximately 80% copper and 20% tin. The artisanal process is a blend of hand forging and lathing the bronze, while carefully heating and cooling the metal. The result is a spectacularly sounding, very unique musical instrument. Wind gongs are available in various sizes, with each size having its own distinct sound. Smaller sizes have a higher pitch and less power, while larger sizes are deeper, richer, and more resonant.
