In the era of current changes in drum set performance, it has become necessary to seek new technological solutions that significantly influence the sound of individual drums in the kit. Drummers have demanded tom-tom suspension mounts that allow the shell to resonate without the slightest interference, and shell thickness has also been minimized. Drumhead manufacturers are constantly working on designing heads that transmit the noble tone of the drum while eliminating undesirable acoustic phenomena. New generations of single- and double-ply drumheads are emerging, partially or entirely filled with an absorbent medium. However, today, even the best drumheads cannot fully satisfy musicians in delivering the expected sound. What drummers often dislike is the boomy, thumping, and muddy sound of toms, full of shrill overtones. The floor tom, in addition to its beefy, low-end tone, also produces many unwanted acoustic phenomena in its frequency range that discourage further playing. This state of affairs has led some drummers, disappointed by the sound of their drums, to creatively search for new solutions.

FLORING is a new product from Palisso Percussion made from an exceptionally thin and ultra-light membrane, coated on one side with visco-cotton flock. Millions of protruding fibers act as an absorber for all unwanted effects accompanying sound production on individual drums. The surface of the floring does not produce the slightest noise during drumhead vibration, which is particularly important for studio recording. When using traditional polyester O-ring mufflers, a hissing sound caused by the contact of two polyester surfaces is audible. The use of floring has completely eliminated this phenomenon. The structure and high shape memory of florings make them resistant to deformation caused by accidental stick strikes. When playing with a floring, there is no choking of the drum sound or reduction in dynamics, as they are very light and vibrate along with the drumhead.
