The TAMA STAR Reserve Hand Hammered Copper is the first metal snare drum in the prestigious STAR Drums series – a premium-class instrument designed for the most demanding drummers. The 1.5 mm hand-hammered copper shell provides an exceptionally warm, deep, and rich sound with a clear harmonic tail and powerful volume in the low and low-mid range.

The unique hand-hammering process gives the shell a subtly barrel-like shape – a hammer with a smaller diameter was used on the edges than in the central part of the shell. The result is a fuller, "fat" sound with impressive resonance and a wide spectrum of overtones. The snare drum responds perfectly to playing dynamics, offering both warm, full tones and a bright, cutting attack.

Proprietary Customized Brass Mighty Hoops (2.3 mm) are also responsible for projection and clarity. Their slightly beveled edge, compared to standard flanged hoops, provides a sharper, more decisive attack. The combination of the warm, rich resonance of copper with the bright response of the hoops creates a completely new, original sound – different from classic metal snare drums.
