The Lil' John Roberts Signature Snare Drum features a conventional 1mm thick steel shell with 8 lugs and professional hardware, such as die-cast hoops for sharp attack, a linear-drive strainer with tensioner, and 20-strand carbon steel snare wires for clarity and sensitivity. Its most unique feature is the silicone-filled top and bottom bearing edges, which give the drum a distinctive sound and feel. By increasing shell strength and controlling excess overtones, the silicone beautifully tempers the naturally bright tone of the steel shell while providing an incredibly wide tuning range. All these features combine to perfectly capture John's clean sound and style.
