- The shell of the new Tama is made from a blend of walnut and birch. 6mm thick shells for the toms and floor tom consist of 4 plies of birch and 2 plies of walnut, while the bass drum is 8mm thick and consists of 5 plies of birch and 2 plies of walnut.
