TAMA Starphonic Copper 14x7" snare

For the first time in the history of the STARPHONIC series, the PCP147 snare drum features a 1.2 mm thick copper shell with a 7-inch depth, creating an extraordinary raw, dark sound with rich low tones.

Combining unique STARPHONIC features such as the Grooved Hoop and Super Sensitive Hi-Carbon snare wires, it provides high sensitivity, precise projection, and controlled sustain.

• Ratchet Style Snappy Tension Adjuster
  (the ratchet system prevents the snare wires from loosening. It maintains high tension, even at extreme settings. One-click adjustment provides 0.083 mm increments, allowing for very sensitive micro-adjustments.)
• Freedom Lug & Claw Hook (US.PAT.NO.7825318)
  (the quick-release system offers simple and fast drumhead replacement without the need to remove all tension bolts from the lugs)
• "Linear-Drive" Strainer (US.PAT.NO. 8017846)
  (This strainer provides greater control over the lever adjustment arm and more precise control of the snare wire deployment motion. Even if you move the arm quickly, you won't hear the typical impact. Furthermore, by tilting the butt plate at a 30-degree angle, this design holds the snare cords or tape more firmly and reduces unnecessary pressure on the strainer and drum shell.)
• Super Sensitive Hi-Carbon Snare Wire
  (New materials and plate shape, along with the wire coil winding pattern, exhibit greater sensitivity and a brighter, clearer sound.)
• Non-Loosening Rubber Gasket (US.PAT.NO. 7825318)
  (When the tension bolt is tightened, the claw hook is pressed against the hoop. This also increases the pressure on the tension rod inside.)
• Detachable Butt Plate
  (allows for changing the resonant drumhead but keeps the snare wire tension in its original state. Simply loosen two screws and remove the butt plate with the wires still attached. When you reattach the butt plate, the snare wire tension will be restored to its original position and calibration. The Grooved Snare Side Hoop has an open frame that simplifies handling.)

  The first factor we focused on to achieve a new snare sound was the effect given by the shape, mass, and material of the hoop. The current design combines vintage styling and modern technology. The resonant hoop works perfectly with the Detachable Butt Plate system.
