Tama's Superstar Hyper-Drive Duo is a unique and exciting series that brings new value to the current world of drumming. The key element of this series is the 10" x 14" snare drum, which Tama aptly named the "Duo Snare." This drum is unique, not only because of its unusual 10"x14" size and the fact that it sits on floor tom legs. This drum can be tuned low and placed where a floor tom would traditionally go. As such, the snare can function as a low/deep snare with the snare wires engaged or as a traditional 14-inch floor tom. Hence the name "Duo" snare. The versatility of this drum can lead to many unique phrasing possibilities.
The entire Superstar Hyper-Drive Duo kit sounds full and fat.
The shells are thin (6-ply), 5 mm (the bass drum is 8-ply, 7 mm) 100% maple shells for an explosive sound with a warm tone.
