Another step in the evolution of the Stage Custom set, made from 100% birch wood.

With the introduction of the Stage Custom drums in 1995, Yamaha once again established the standards for quality and sound. Borrowing the drum construction of our legendary Custom sets, we are proud to present our latest Stage Custom model, made from 100% birch wood.

Shell
The shell is a key factor in providing drums with their resonance and 'rumble' capability. Accordingly, Stage Custom drums are made from 100% birch wood – a classic in the world of high-quality drum sets. Furthermore, thanks to its 6-ply structure, the Stage Custom set faithfully transmits vibrations from the batter surface, making it a great, high-class instrument.

Hardware
1. The boom stand has been specially designed to maintain better stability and ease of adjustment. 2. The central boom joint can be set for very precise cymbal positioning for greater playing comfort. 3. The YESS mount, used on the floor tom's bottom hoop, is equipped with 4 wing bolts. 4. Improved basket adjustment mechanism.

Yamaha Enhanced Sustain System – YESS
The secret of our YESS system is twofold: First, it minimizes the contact of the hardware with the drum shell; Second, it connects the hardware to the drum at the so-called nodal point* – this is the place where the hardware will not interfere with the shell's vibrations. Nylon rod clamps ensure maximum stability. The YESS system allows for very close placement of the toms and does not hinder quick drum changes. Our YESS system, mounted on the floor tom, offers abundant sustain while maintaining floor tom stability, even during the most powerful hits. * Nodal point mounting is patented by Noble & Cooley Drum Company.

Ball mount and clamp
Ball mount – an innovative, original Yamaha patent that has undergone a series of modifications over the years. A large, ultra-hard resin ball is housed in a special chrome-plated bearing, located together with a titanium wing bolt. This is a professional, drummer-friendly mount due to its non-slip drum positioning capabilities in virtually any configuration a drummer can imagine. Additionally, it allows for tuning the bottom heads simply by rotating the drum.

Additional air holes
Until now, most drums were vented with only one air hole. Yamaha engineers, as part of their research into bass drums, patented an air hole system with the Absolute Series that provides better ventilation. One main hole is on the player's side, and others are located around the edge of the shell. Additional holes allow for smooth air exchange, providing a much more comfortable beater action and greater rebound control. Reduction in beater vibration and resonance is particularly noticeable with the air holes intact from the outside of the drum.
