Description

FLAGSHIP SAMPLING SIDEKICK
SPD-SX PRO is the ultimate sampling pad for the most demanding gigs. With years of road testing and extensive feedback from SPD-S and SPD-SX users, the top-tier SPD-SX PRO raises the bar again. Utilizing the advanced pad technology of its predecessors, the SPD-SX PRO offers a range of professional-requested enhancements and is built for life on the road. Visible on dark stages with its large color display and customizable multi-color trigger lights. Expand your performance setup with more audio outputs, additional trigger inputs, and hi-hat and FX expression pedal control. Go further with a massive 32 GB memory, 48 kHz audio playback, increased pad sensitivity without crosstalk, and the dedicated SPD-SX PRO app that makes kit editing easier.

RELIABILITY/DURABILITY - BUILT FOR THE ROAD
Road gear takes a beating both on and off stage. Since 2011, professional drummers have put the SPD-SX through the ultimate trial by fire, from crowded clubs to sold-out stadiums. The SPD-SX PRO adds to that legacy, incorporating years of feedback into its refinements. With customizable LEDs, a large color screen, and reliable triggering, this dependable unit is ready for action night after night.

LIGHTING
Customizable Pad-Dividing LEDs
When the lights go out, the PRO shines. Customizable pad-dividing LEDs and trigger lights allow you to see all nine pads on dark stages – goodbye gaffer tape! Assign any vertical or horizontal light to one of ten preset colors, or create and name your own. Group together bass drums, snares, backing tracks, and click with their own assigned color. Set horizontal pad lights to be constantly on, light up only when a pad is struck, or flash dynamically with an assigned WAV file.

Ultra-sensitive Pads
The SPD-SX PRO has nine very durable pads. The three shoulder pads have a revised sensor design to increase sensitivity and even hits when playing on the pad – regardless of the mounting angle. You also have increased crosstalk protection to prevent accidental triggering of other pads. And if you already own an SPD-SX, the SPD-SX PRO size is so similar that you can use your existing case and accessories… without having to buy extra gear.

Color LCD Screen
Playing in the dark just got easier. The SPD-SX PRO is equipped with a large 4.3-inch color screen with backlit function buttons, tabs, and a jog dial for lightning-fast sound selection. The display shows essential real-time information such as A and B sample layers, WAV sample names, sample playback progress, and more.

SOUND QUALITY - ALL THE SOUNDS YOU NEED
The crowd is going wild. The pressure is on. You need the right sounds at the right time. The massive 32 GB memory will hold your entire music catalog through many performances. With 1550 built-in samples, 200 ready-to-use kits, and balanced outputs, you can fire up the SPD-SX PRO right out of the box. Plus, easily sort and search through your sounds with sample tagging — no more looking for a needle in a haystack.

UNDER THE HOOD - Storage and Sounds
Storage issues are a thing of the past. With 32 GB of internal memory, the SPD-SX PRO can hold nearly 44 hours of crystal-clear 48 kHz/16-bit stereo audio. No need to worry about converting source formats. You can load 48/44.1 kHz WAV, AIFF, and MP3 files with various bitrates, and the SPD-SX PRO will automatically convert them to its native 48 kHz/16-bit audio format — a huge time saver.

EXPANDED AUDIO OUTPUTS
The SPD-SX PRO has two-channel balanced stereo main outputs — left and right. Combine these with four fully assignable mono audio outputs for six individual audio channels, so any pad can be sent to any output for mixing flexibility. There is also a stereo headphone output assignable for unique monitoring scenarios.

EVERYTHING ON BOARD - Loaded Samples and Sounds
The SPD-SX PRO comes with 1550 high-quality sounds and 200 kits (43 overwritable factory kits and 157 user kits). In the heat of battle, the SPD-SX PRO's processing power allows you to change to a new kit without cutting off the sound of the current kit — so as the sound fades out at the end of the last played sound, the already changed kits are ready for the next track. Need even more options? Dive into the Roland Cloud sample libraries and explore a constantly expanding selection of sounds.

COMPLEX SOUNDS - A/B Layering
Creating unique sound layers is easy when you assign two sounds to a pad. You can assign a sound as the MAIN layer in the pad menu, then select another sample for the layer with the original sample, resulting in MAIN and SUB sounds on the same pad. Then, toggle between MAIN and SUB layers. You even have separate volume, pitch, transient attack, and decay control for each sound, so you get the perfect blend of layers.

PRODUCTION AND PERFORMANCE TOOLS - CREATIVE POWER
Preparing a killer performance takes some prep work. The SPD-SX PRO is packed with features to make pre-show planning easier. Download and organize sounds with the dedicated app. Get creative with four effect engines and connect a hi-hat controller or expression pedal. Then add some magic with expanded trigger inputs and a built-in 16-step pad sequencer.

DEEPER EDITING - Dedicated app
With an almost unlimited amount of sounds under your sticks, you need to stay organized. Using the dedicated SPD-SX PRO App from Roland Cloud, you can easily import audio and edit sound parameters or playback via USB on your computer. Drag and drop samples, create kits, adjust settings, and name them on the fly. The same USB connection allows for sending 8-channel audio and MIDI to a computer for recording with a DAW.

PEDAL TO THE METAL - Expression Control
With expanded inputs for triggers, you have even more playing possibilities at your fingertips… or feet. You can play on up to nineteen surfaces when you maximize all pads, external triggers, and footswitch inputs. Connect a hi-hat controller like the Roland VH-10 V-Hi-Hat and play with expression pedals or add snare and bass drum pads to create a mini drum kit. Alternatively, you can connect an expression pedal to control effects in real-time while playing.

SEAMLESS ENGINES - Effects and Sidechain
Take advantage of a wide range of high-quality processing to enhance your sounds and add color. Four MFX provide everything from modulation effects, distortions, and filters to delays and reverbs that you can assign to any pad or external trigger in each kit. Master comp, EQ, and effects are also available for processing the entire output signal. Sidechain compression is also included so that bass drums and other punchy tracks are never buried in the mix.

MAKE THE CONNECTION - INPUTS FOR EASY MIXING
Mixing from the stage has never been easier thanks to the balanced stereo main output and four balanced direct outputs. Connect up to eight mono, single-zone triggers or four stereo drumhead and hoop triggers. With external dual trigger inputs, hi-hat, and footswitch inputs, you can play on up to nineteen different playing surfaces.

LEVEL UP - 16-step Pad Sequencer
Streamline performance prep with the built-in 16-step pad sequencer. Assign from 2 to 16 steps to a pad in each kit. Then coordinate the playback of different pads in your chosen order. No need to remember which pads the sounds are on — once programmed, striking your chosen pad will trigger the sequence, making live performance simpler.

IN SYNC - Expanded Pad Link
Have a backing track and a click track that need to start playing together? Using Pad Link, you can strike one pad and simultaneously trigger playback from two pads. You can link pads with any combination of pads and external triggers. Then use a mute group to silence the previous pad when you strike the next, so only one pad is playing at a time. Together, full pad linking and mute groups create unlimited combinations of tracks, loops, and audio in every kit.

IN TIME - CLICK TRACK
As a drummer, your job is to drive the rhythm during a performance. With a flexible click on board, staying in time has never been easier. The internal click is fully editable for sound and note value, and any sample can be assigned as the click sound. Then start the click with a pad strike, button, or external trigger. Even while it's playing, you're still in control — the click can be set to toggle on/off with a stick hit, sound once per hit, or re-trigger every time you hit it.

TAKE CONTROL - Pad Editing
Pad editing controls are within reach when you need to fine-tune samples on the fly. Adjust volume and pitch with dedicated real-time controls. Or press a button to adjust attack and decay for the pad's transient settings. And when you need to dive deeper, the color display gives clear access to many advanced parameters.
