MEINL Tabla Set – 8 1/2" Bayan + 5 1/2" Dayan is a set of two traditional Indian tabla drums. The set includes a larger 8 1/2" Bayan and a smaller 5 1/2" Dayan, which together provide the characteristic tonal range of tabla – from deeper bass tones to higher, more articulate strokes.

The drums are made from mahogany and fitted with natural goatskin heads. The tuning system uses leather straps and wooden tuning blocks positioned under the vertical straps. Adjusting their position changes the head tension and allows the instrument to be tuned.

Tabla responds to both the striking area and playing technique, allowing a wide range of tones and articulations to be produced. The set is suitable both for learning traditional playing techniques and as an additional percussion instrument for live performances and recording sessions.

The set includes padded drum rings that provide stable support for the instruments while playing, as well as a tuning hammer.
